Duplicating policies

One of the issues that came up today was whats the point of duplicating policies. The questioner wondered why have a VP policy that matches something in the real world. Well, VP is really a world of its own. For a start it doesn't recognise geographical or political boundaries in the real world. The citizens can come from anywhere, and each culture can have its own different take on things. With VP, the advantage is that we get to see what 'everyone' find more or less acceptible. Its not influenced by the media, or by existing governments.

So feel free to 're-enact' existing legislation if you agree with it, and also, feel free to create policies that are like existing policies. What is it about your personality that would make others support you against someone else, even if the policy is identical. You might not be able to persuade the policy holder to make appropriate changes to their policy, so why not create you own version, do your own research and see if others follow you instead of the other.
