New site layout in progress

I've started working on a new front page layout for the site, which I hope will make the site slight more engaging. Part of it is about how to promote the policies that we already have, and also to provide an editorial mechanism so that people can add their own media editorial on their policies. The idea here is that people can write up their own story/take on a policy (and indeed other members can as well), and those stories will then be valid for a period of time, such as 1 week or month. They will be randomly shown on the frontpage to give them exposure.

I will probably reserve editorial control over the articles so that I must approve them before they appear, to prevent malicious or abusive material appearing in a prominent location.

I'm interested to hear what you think about this, as its still at the ideas stage, so please get in touch if you have any ideas. One area that's problematic at the moment is how to incorporate the news headlines and promote related stories.
